PrintFix Pro 2.1 Profile Too Dark - Hardware Problem?

2007-04-22 by Allen Weiss

PFP2.1, Vista, GeForce8800, monitor calibrated with Spyder Pro 2. I
started with the 225 patch target printed from PS CS3 with the canned
Epson profile SPR2400 EnhMatte BstPhoto.icc, PS control, ICM, No
color adjustment in printer driver. The printed target agreed quite
nicely with the monitor display.

When reading the patches with the spectro, All the patches appeared
too dark in the split view. Especially noticeable was the white
patch - it was clearly quite gray.

I then printed the target in PS again, this time with my newly
created profile, and, as I expected, all the patches were too dark. I
can't discern any color shift though. Same results printing
a "regular" picture.

Is this normal? I guess I could adjust the profile to up the
brightness, but I would expect a profile at least as good as the
canned one right out of the gate.

Any help would be appreciated. I can send some samples, either
scanned or by snail-mail.
Allen
