I made the mistake of starting to write a CIELab class for calculating dE2000 in order to go back to my previous tests and see how "close" colors were matching. It has been mentioned on the web that dE2000 is a much better measurement of color error than straight delta-E etc. Subjectively, does it do a better job of representing the level of difference an observer can detect on for example a grey ramp vs a highly saturated region? I have a truely warped idea which ... I won't post here but need to explore in order to feel comfortable understanding color management in a general sense.
