I am using a non-Epson paper (Merlin from Hawk Mountain) and I have profiled it using PrintFix Pro. The problem I have is that the density of the print is not as much with the PrintFix Pro as that with a canned profile from the paper vendor. I have printed a test target (from Fuji)using the two profiles and the exact same settings for intent and driver paper settings. Both images look like the soft proof images on my screen (which is calibrated using a Spyder2 Pro). The one from the vendor has colors that are deeper - it is especially noticible in the gray scale in the print. For reference, the printer is an Epson SP4000 with Epson inks and I am using relative colormetric as the intent with Photoshop controling color management. Both profile use the Epson Smooth Fine Art as the paper setting. The PrintFix profile was created from 729 patch advanced target plus the gray scale target. Is there some way to get increased color/black saturation with the profile I am creating? Either the vendor used another profiling system or made changes to the profile which allows it to print deeper, richer colors and to have it work with soft proofing. I am printing the target as is with no tweaks in PS other than designating the profile when printing so there is something to do with the profile that is making the difference. Thanks, Rollin
