MacBook Pro. Do you think my Windows apps (PS, LR, Photomatix, etc.)
will run reasonably fast on the Mac? Thanks.
I haven't done any comparison tests of my own, but at the time the MacBookPro was first released, it ran Windows apps faster than any Windows laptops out there, as I recall. Basicly a dual dual Intel chip is the same in any machine. Apple tends to put a bit more into video and co-processors etc... so the overall result is often faster from a user perspective. But I find that paying for lots of memory up front, and getting an external drive to offload images to are the two big usability factors, no matter what laptop. And with a MacBookPro, getting a FireWire400 drive will download stuff much faster than getting a USB2 drive... though one with both options is nice.
