R1800 profiles, magenta cast?

2009-02-09 by winds310

I've profiled a number of papers for my R1800 with Epson ink after
buying the Spyder3Suite in January. I'm using the 3.5PB2 software.
For all of the papers, there is a slight magenta cast to soft proofs
and prints. The good news is that the prints do pretty much match the
soft proof. The tint is clearly seen in the front panel and seat of
the scooter in the test image, and in the sky and trees of the bottom
right test image. Papers I've profiled are Epson Premium Luster,
Premium Glossy, Velvet Fine Art; Museo Silver Rag; and PremierArt
Platinum Rag, Smooth Fine Art, Velvet Fine Art.

If I apply the NeutralMinus preset, then all of the profiles are more
neutral, and are a much close match (soft proof on/off) to the test
image. The prints also are more neutral, viewed under an Ott Light,
or daylight. The monitor is a Samsung LCD, profiled with the
Spyder3Elite using 6500/2.2.

It just seems odd to me, that I get consistent profiles that are
slightly off. It's easy enough to apply the NeutralMinus preset, but
it just doesn't seem like it should be necessary.
