Monitor Warm-Up time for LCD's

2009-09-04 by Rebel PPC

Equipment:
Dell Ultrasharp 2208WFP 22" Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Profiling Goodies:
Datacolor Spyder3elite with v3.0.7 software

I have my system set to recalibrate once per month and to notify me. As
everyone knows, at the set recalibration time, you get that notification at
boot-up. However, you are told to wait 30 minutes for the monitor to warm
up before calibrating/recalibrating. That's not a problem with me to wait
the 30 minutes but my question is, since my monitor is an LCD, does this
warm-up time apply? This monitor is never "warm" to the touch after being
on for extended times so unlike a CRT type monitor, I would assume that LCD's
are not dictated to by "Warm-Up" needs.

Is my assumption wrong on this or is their a real need to let an LCD monitor
"Warm-Up" for 30 minutes before Calibrating/Recalibrating?

Best Regards,
Thomas
