hello group, recent datacolor customer coming from i1Display2 for past year i am totally amazed at what i have been missing on my wide gamut HP lp2475w monitor when working in nikon's color managed applications NX2 or ViewNX2 for my raw files from nikon D700. evidently my rear usb ports on my puget systems built i7-940 compputer stills gets enough power to usb ports on asus P6T Deluxe motherboard to keep ambient blue light pulsating when i turn off computer evry night. i turn off in order computer>monitor>speakers. now i wwent into spyder3 utility application in system tray on windows 7 professional 64 bit and choose preferences and changed blue light from "pulse continuosly" to "blink when taking ambient light reading" and it appears to have stopped my blue light from going on at all when computer and monitor are off. so am i too assume thats the "fix"? i am content with it like that as no need for blue light on all the time is there? lastly as my previous puck was put away after use in its package i found covering spyder up with clear baggie allows ambient light reading to be taken and keeps dust out of sensor holes in back being as my environment is somewhat dusty compared to others. thank you, chevysales (aka nikonuser) ----------------------- PS: a little background.... the spyder3 elite had been recommended to me for use on wide gamut using coloreyes software.... i choose to give the software that comes with elite version a try and like it a lot. have only ran 1 profile to date runing under advanced mode. somehow black point (first visually then using set numbers) and rgb sliders wasn't shown to me as the help file says it should have been but i have since found i had to choose them in preferences. as my monitor has that ability with both contrast and brightness adjustments along with RGB sliders. next profile (every 30 days) i will give it a try choosing "new monitor" so it starts with fresh choices. Very impressed with software compared to what i was using (i1Match 3.62 latest xrite offering) while better than previous version) still has nothing on datacolors offering IMO. I had no idea what i was missing as i assumed i1 was the best... but while diagnostics showed me all was fine with hardware puck it seems the color tests run are not anywhere close to wide gamut so i was left with washed out colors with red channel almost 80 steps down from 255 where all 3 sliders start from. all the while it was giving me great numbers when running it's "validator" once one finishes a calibration. it gave me de 0.38 to 0.44 on average. i clearly didn't have anywhere near that based on what my colors looked like now that i have compared to Spyder3.
