Datacolor User to User Support Group.

I have had the same thing occurring on all my papers and was questioning myself why this was so.  I assumed in the end this is because the paper is not pure white (255:255:255)   when I did the split view all the squares are different the pure colour and then the actual printed color allowing for the different papers.  This to me is what the profiling is all about.

On my MAC OSX  I used a utility called Digital Color Meter and measured sample squares to see what was happening and found the white patch pure and then my actual measurement.
