In my quest for the perfect profiles, I have two Questions relative to
PFP's adjustment sliders. Can you tell me what the difference is between
the effects of the Brightness and the Dim/Bright sliders aside from the
fact that you adjust them in opposite directions to get similar results.
What does the Dim/Bright slider adjust besides brightness?
One is designed for standard image brightness, the other for viewing light brightness. So they work in opposite directions, on differing scale, but not in very different manners; if fact you could leverage them further by using both, but a situation requiring that would be a very questionable situation...
Also, can you tell me the shifts that the Warm/Cool slider give us?
This attempts to adjust on the line that ink metamerism follows. So while it uses warm/cool terms (which would tend to imply yellow/blue adjustment) it actually adjusts for what the image looks like under that more yellow or more blue light, which is more in the line of being rusty in one direction, and green in the other. If a particualar inkset or media does not follow that line as closely as most, you could add further adjustment to the standard color sliders to compensate for that variation. Or, you could work with low metamerism inks, low metamerism media, and avoid having to learn how to work with this function at all!
