The unit calibrates against the white/black areas on the pad. Do the LEDs sensitivity to color, etc ever change? It seems like the unit could be calibrated against an IT8 target similar to : http://www.adorama.com/IKKIT857.html
Just for my own understanding, anyone care to explain why it only has to cal against B/W?

Thats the beauty of LEDs, they are very consisitant over time. Getting the gains (intensities) set in them once, leaves nothing to adjust for but the temperature. Thats what the white calibration is for. Black calibration on site is unnecessary.
