Spyder3 Elite profile not loading in Vista 64?

Spyder3 Elite profile not loading in Vista 64?

2008-12-08 by madigan_bill

Read Article ID: 697 on the website - Profile assoiation in Vista.
Appears to me that the profile is not loading. No Spyder3 splash
screen, Utility has yellow slash. I am running Vista 64-bit Home
Premium. Vista Color Management control panel appears to indicate that
it is not loaded
---------------------------------------------
Device: Display: Generic PnP Monitor - ATI Radeon HD 4670
Use my settings is for this device is checked
Underneath that,
Profiles associated with this device:
ICC Profiles
Spyder Profile 12-4-08 (default) [this is the calibration profile I
created]
Diamond Pro 2060
--------------------------------------------
1. Is the ATI driver loading first? Is the Spyder3 Elite profile I
created not loading?
2.The Spyder3Utility tray icon has a yellow slash - from other postings
I know that indicates profile is not loaded - correct?
3. Should I have used the Spyder3 Elite Certification option?
4. Should I use the StartDelay utility referred to ? Will that utility
work with Vista 64?
5. Any Datacolor KB doc or website site that show screenshots of the
Vista color mgmt. settings should be? Does Spyder3 documentation have
answers to my questions? I assume I missed it...

Thanks

Please turn off any startup functions of videocard drivers or utilities, they tend to fight with color management utilities for control of the VLUTs to the videocard...

Could you be more specific? Read Article ID 750 "disable the startup item called cli.exe" . Is that what you mean?

Do you mean the service Ati External Event Utility?

Or a setting in the ATI Catalyst Contol Center? Such as "Color Adjustments" ? Appears to be "deactivated" since the button option is "Reactivate .The Color Controls are disabled whenever a 3rd party application is used"

The ATI driver and Catalyst Control Panel are widely used so I assume this is a common problem. Point me to the right Datacolor kb articles. I have searched for hours on the Web and the Datacolor kb...

The first of these would appear to be the only one that is
automatically launched at startup, so I'd suggest starting there.

Can you answer my other questions? Is the ATI driver loading first? Not
sure that is the problem. Does my Vista Color Management control panel
settings indicate that the profile is not loaded? Should I use the
StartDelay utility referred to ? Will that utility
work with Vista 64?

If you start a support ticket at our website, they can go over your Vista issues with you; I'm not a Vista expert, and can't offer the level of detail that they can.
