Profile Override?

Profile Override?

2009-03-23 by grangermacy

I'm using Spyder Pro 2.3.5 with Vista 64. Things work fine except the Profile Chooser doesn't seem to work. When my system starts up the profile is activated and then evidently something else in the startup sequence resets the profile. Profile chooser won't set it back. So I'm going to my startup folder and rerunning the startup app to get my profile back. Seems a bit clunky. Anyone have any better ideas?
Thanks

It would be great to find out what other startup item is trashing your
calibration and shut it off. Or you could set a lag time for the
Spyder Startup item, so that it "wins the battle"...

There is a new Spyder2 Startup Utility included in Spyder2express
2.3.6 - Win on our website with a delay for this very purpose, perhaps
installing that app would provide you with a new version of the
Utility that would solve your issue without using a thirdparty utility
to delay loading of the Utility.

The new Spyder2 Utility is available as a separate download from our
website, for any Spyder2/Pro users who would like to try it.

Well I tried the new utility. For the record, its labeled ColorVision Startup 1.2 on the website - for anyone who would like to give it a shot. It does delay the running, but alas, after everything was over and my computer appeared to be in stasis - presto my second monitor reverted to its old ways. The only problem is now when I rerun the startup app it takes longer to load!
Oh well.

Does anyone know if there any sort of a log you can look at to see what goes on during startup?

thanks

Swapping profile from Win XP to Vista?

2009-03-24 by Bob Petruska

Can I just take a Spyder3Print profile that I generated in Windows XP
and use just use it in my Windows Vista system and get the same
printout results.

Same printer, same applications.

I'm just shutting down my XP system and changing over to Vista. This
will be a clean install so I'm trying to make my life as easy as
possible to get back up and running quickly regarding photo editing
and printing quality.

presto my second monitor reverted to its old ways.
Ah, so this is a second display that you are having issues with. What about the first one? If that is okay, then the issue is not likely to be another utility loading later, or it would also trash the color on the primary display. Its far more likely your issue has to do with your videocard's (in)ability to load two sets of LUTs to the two displays. So are you using a single videocard, with two displays attached to it?

Does Spyder2 support two monitors? I could never get it to calibrate both my monitors but maybe it was my video card.

The Spyder2 does support two or more monitors...but you are correct it depends on your video card.

Re: Profile Override?

Yes, my Spyder 2 pro calibrated both monitors just fine. My only problem is startup when my second monitor loads the calibrated profile and then unloads it. I rerun the startup program and everything is fine.
I am running the second monitor on the same card so I suspect that must be part of the problem. Overall, I'm just glad I can get them both calibrated using a single card.
