SpyderPrint and SpyderStudio are now shipping

2012-01-31 by C D Tobie

Those of you who have been waiting for the Studio bundle with Spyder4Elite in it to become available before ordering a Spyder4 can place your orders now; both SpyderPrint and SpyderStudio are now available.

Those of you who currently use Spyder3Print SR, Spyder3Print, or PrintFix PRO, (purchased solo, or as part of a Studio bundle) can download the SpyderPrint software from the Datacolor website's support section for free, and run it with your current device. No major changes with this new version, mostly just rebranding to be part of the new product line. But it does offer a lot of feature updates for those using older builds of the software; and I find that many people are using non-current software; so upgrade for free now, to get speed enhancements, improved targets, and lots of other improvements that have been added over time.

The Print device shipping in both these new packages is identical to the device previously shipped in Spyder3Print SR; eventually the black chrome band on Print will be replaced with a black band. We removed the black chrome from SpyderElite with Spyder4, in an attempt to produce a greener product (chrome plating is not the most ecological of processes, and can effect recycling as well). That change will occur for the Print device as well, once current stocks of the chrome plated body part are exhausted. One small step for Spyder, one great leap for Spyderkind… or something like that.
