Anyone getting WIFI working via a USB wifi adapter

I have connected the my disklaiver to internet successfully by using the recommended Ethernet adapter. 

However I wonder whether the USB port(instead of the Ethernet/LAN port) can be used to connect to WIFI? I do have an unused WIFE USB adapter. Will it work?

BTW, is the USB for connect to a USB external hard drive? Anyone using a USB hub to allow multiple device?
