I have an MX-100B that I bought used... in good shape all in all, and I've not yet had any problems or any need for a Disklavier technician. However, I was recently enjoying the transcription of Rachmaninoff from the old Ampico rolls (downloaded from Disklavier World), and I began to get a knocking sound from under one of the keys when the key was struck by the player. There is no problem detectable when playing by hand. This leads me to believe it might be that the damper on the solenoid has either become dislodged or has broken and fallen off.
Can any of you more experienced users tell me if my assumption sounds correct? Or, if I'm off base, can you help correct my understanding?
I assume that I'll need to get a Disklavier technician in to fix the problem, and will most likely also have the entire mechanism regulated at that time.
I live in the DC metro area (Alexandria VA to be exact) and would also appreciate any leads on good technicians in my area.
Thanks a lot to you all... I love reading this group and learning more about my Disklavier!
