President Kennedy said "Keep your friends close and
your enemies closer". I think it is important to have Yamaha staff part of
this group, if for anything else but to add balance. In addition, maybe he
will go back to his employer and let them know the negatives as well as the
positives.
Me for one, I think the invention is a
miracle. Had it been here 25 years ago when I was a struggling Opera
student at Boston Conservatory, I venture to say I would have had a lot more
rehearsal time. As it was I had to pay $50 an hour for a coach. It
would have been great to have my Yamaha back then.
A dream:
Have the greatest piano accompianists record all
the lieder and arias. Build a studio with nothing but Yamahas.
Students can come in and check out Dalton Baldwin's accompaniment of "Der Hirt
Auf Dem Felsen", or rehearse any opera and learn their parts. Saves
rehearsal time. Saves face. Great teaching tool.
What a great dream!!! Anyway, that's my
dream.

About an hour later, I was annoyed by even more BS about volume control on the DUG board. Then I waded through yet more of the standard admonitions about Yamaha spending millions of dollars maintaining the DUG e-mail address and thereby paying for the right to forbid price discussions etc. This caused me to explode with a sarcastic stream of consciousness posting on DUG. Now, less than 24 hours later, we are +27 and now have 84 members. Wow, I should get angry at bed-wetters and whiners more often! By the way, don't worry about the personal fortune I am ripping through funding this site, you guys are worth every penny of it.Does anybody know how many people subscribe to DUG?One matter I definitely want to hear from the group on. We would have 85 members except for one application still awaiting my OK. It comes from MWisner@... . I don't know Mark, but I sure do know that domain. Am I admitting a spy if I approve him? Realistically, he could easily back door his way in as Innocent@hotmail.com and I would approve it. If there is a strong consensus to keep him out, somebody better send me a complete enemies list to check against our membership list. Not realistic I suppose. I'll sit on the application until I hear some opinions. To Post a message, send it to: disklavier@...
