Changing treble key velocities

2014-01-28 by <gward1211@...>

Can anyone enlighten me as to whether there is a way to modify the "velocity curve" of a DKV Mark IV. I use my DKV to mostly play midi files created from the scanning of player piano rolls. Many of these are standard 88 note rolls and have a uniform note velocity, typically 64. I find that these files produce less treble than I would like and treble notes are often swamped by the bass. I could also be my failing hearing!

Is it possible to adjust the DKV so that the treble notes, say, from an octave above middle C and up, play a bit more loudly? It can't be done from the standard PRC interface, but I thought that someone out there, who knows how to get into the programming of a DKC, might have some software to achieve this. I'm sure that Yamaha would have software to achieve it.

I know that Spencer Chase has a very good program, Midimod2, for modifying velocities of single or a whole batch of midi files, but I would like to consider whether a DKV mod is also possible.

Kind regards

Geoff
