Re: [disklavier] DC1IIXG Problem with Key sensor

Hello,
unless the cable has suffered physical damage (mice, transit damage, etc), it is unlikely to be the cable. The most common fault is with the sensor emission LEDs.

Hello - New to the group here and hoping someone may have some insight on a key sensor problem. I just bought a 1999 DC1 with the DKC500RXG unit. The disklavier plays beautifully including synth voices from the XG module. However I cannot get it to record anything but pedal movements. When I tried to reset the MIDI settings, I receive a "Sensor not connected error" followed by a "Sensor LED lit error". I've checked and re-connected the cable connections at both ends of the action and they seem solid. I've had a tech in to look at it and he thinks it may be a cable.

When checking the connections we noticed that the ribbon cables appear to be altered slightly. The last green wire on the ribon cable is cut about an inch below the actual connector and removed from the remainder of the cable.

The tech has ordered a replacement cable - I believe it's the cable that connects to the right side of the action and connects back to the control box under the piano.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered or resolved an issue like this? Also, has anybody noticed a similar situation with the ribbon cables used for these connections where they don't seem to using all of the wires on the ribbon? Thanks.
