As for the original control unit, yes, I'll hang on to it for a variety of reasons.

The Measurement table data on older Disklaviers is stored in the PK-CTRL board, in the bottom of the key drive unit at the treble end of the piano. 


If I were you, I would hang on to the control unit. You just never know...

When the Keyboard Measurement is run where do the calibration results / settings reside? Do they get stored on the control unit or on one of the DKV piano circuit boards? 

Related to the above, after upgrading the control unit, say DKC500RW XG, with a DKC850, is there any reason to retain the original control unit? I’m aware that the DKC850 provides a Maintenance and Test mode, thus other than retaining the disk drive, the original control appears redundant?
