Re: [disklavier] Piano Tuning question

2016-08-20 by John Dohn

Greetings!

Speaking from personal experience only, when I first had my piano tuned there was no concern from my tuner over the calibration of the player system. Rather, he expressed concern with getting the piano tuned too early because it needed to acclimate to its new environment - the piano was moving from Florida to Oklahoma in January. My tuner was the consummate professional and his guidance was rock solid but because I purchased the piano secondhand and never had an "Yamaha Disklavier" authorized tuner I cannot be certain that I was not missing out on something. That said, I cannot imagine that I am.

Calibrate before tuning

I have a piano technician coming to tune my Disklavier Mark IV. Not sure if he has worked on any of these before.

My question: before tuning does technician need to do anything to player system (like it turn it off) before tuning? Does the player system calibration have to be "reset" after tuning?

Reason asking I had a lot of problems initially setting up player piano system to work properly because it was not calibrated when it was first delivered to me.

Thanks

Charles
