Re[2]: [disklavier] DKC-850 Analog MIDI IN

definitely not a Mac person but i did a little looking online. this page has some suggestions that apply to sound in general but could be the cause of your problem. pay attention to the sound control panel in system preferences/ sound and the sound effects tab. also the core audio reset suggested farther on.

then whatever setting you have in itunes or whatever you are using as a media player. i really hate itunes and use it only when absolutely necessary. in typical apple fashion they seem to think they know what you want more than you do and it is a bitch to make any changes. too bad there is no Media Monkey for the Mac but there is Media Center which a friend says is even better and it is available for the Mac. I think it would have all sorts of options. You can download a trial version.

Thanks George and Spencer . I was able to play a pianosoff plus audio cd Iin an old CD player with output into Analog Midi In sucessfully .., then a .wav file from my iPhone with same routing (through phone jack out) and it worked again ... so it's clear the problem comes from the IMac ... I'll try more later if I'm able to isolate the culprit port or software ..,
