Re: [disklavier] Discs for Yamaha Mx100B

2017-03-20 by Eric Sickinger

Hi Matthew,

I have a MX-80 Disklavier Piano that uses the same 720k floppies and file format as yours.

There are software tools on Carol's site that can be used to copy and manage pianosoft floppies from Yamaha.

Yamaha has just created and updated their pianosoft site that you can once again, buy and download files to make pianosoft floppies. Their msd download software has also been updated to work with the newer windows versions and a USB floppy drive.

The floppy format consists of a piano.dir file, which is where the song titles and type are stored. And individual .fil files which are Yamaha early form of Midi files.

I have converted my controller floppy drive to a floppy emulator, but I still use the software to download and copy files off the floppies to my SD card on my emulator.

Good luck.

Eric

Hello, I'm doing research on a Yamaha MX100B piano that we're taking in on a trial from a store here in Phoenix. I found discs on eBay where the listing says compatible with MX100II. Is that a different model than MX100B? I understand it's not easy to format discs in modern systems and just copy files to a disc. We run Windows 10, and I also have an email into Hal Leonard about their $34.95 discs to make sure these will work. If all this so far isn't the right place to get discs, or if I can't format discs and copy in Windows10, is there another source that will make discs? I also found WebOnlyPiano.com and am waiting for their response as well.
Thanks for any input.
Matthew
