Hi James, Disks that are formatted on the Disklavier will not be readable on a computer as the disklavier erases the floppys 1st sector as a form of copy protection. Unless you use a special program to read the disks. Here is how you create a playable floppy: You must use software Called EExplore from the Dkv Utilities to Create a Playable Disk as it creates a file called pianodir.fil which the disklavier uses to create a menu type listing. You add the .fil song files to the floppy and then use the program to add the index file. You can get it here: http://www.carolrpt.com/softwaredwnld.htm Also to read factory disks on your computer you use the PPFBU program: http://www.kinura.net/ppfbu/ If you have a Mx100A/B it only reads the fil format disks. The floppys must also DSDD 720k disks, Not the DSHD 1440kb disks. I have attached a zip file of a Favorites Disk I made to show you the file format. If you unzip this to a blank formatted 720k floppy it should play. If you use the convert function on the piano it will erase the 1st sector again, and will not be readable on computer without PPFBU. If you need more help, Email back. Good Luck Regards, Eric Hi, I have downloaded several FIL and MIDI files from Disklavier World site. I then copied these to floppy but Disklavier will not recognise them I then format the diskette in the disklavier but then I cannot add the files on my computer as my computer requests that I format the disk again This whole procedure goes round and round with no result Please!! What am doing wrong? Best regards, James
