Disklavier

Good afternoon, everyone.

A clarification regarding Type 0 and Type 1 Standard MIDI Files (SMFs):

Pre-Mark IIXG Disklaviers require the recording to be in Type 0 format when played from media inserted into the piano. An updated Mark IIXG or later Disklavier can read both types of MIDI files.

When playing back a MIDI file from an external source—such as a computer or mobile device, the MIDI file type is irrelevant. Playback of either type of MIDI file results in the same MIDI stream sent to the Disklavier.
