Re[3]: [disklavier] Enspire

should have mentioned that the program does not just remove the subsequent tempo controllers but changes the delta times so that the intended changes are still there but as delta time changes not multiple tempo controllers.

i have a program i wrote a while ago to change multiple tempos in a MIDI file to a single tempo (it uses the first tempo found in the file) it was written to deal with files made from piano rolls that used multiple tempos to accomplish roll acceleration. i assume it would work with other files but it might only work with continuous acceleration. i would have to check the math to figure out if it should work or not if the tempo goes down? you are welcome to try it if you want.

Keith,

I have no digital audio cables or equipment at hand now to try anything out for you, I'm sorry.

I did try to play accompaniment files from Yamaha CD thru all the various optional digital inputs when I first bought the Enspire, but only the Midi-In socket worked in playing anything, so I stayed with that. I'm sure it is a matter of controlling switching which is likely possible via the iPad controller. I simply didn't have time to waste in exploring further then.
Not even the 'Midi-Out' socket registers playback into my computer. Occasionally I alter some midis by shaping the tempo line to achieve changes of phasing – especially to emulate the playing of various preferred pianists. Because some midi players like Zenph, do not seem to observe altered or changing tempos within the midi, the Midi-Out socket has been useful in the past (with my Pianodisc), allowing me to 're-record' – direct back into my computer – a fresh new midi file, with a flat tempo line, by recording 'live', from the piano playing a midi with a heavily edited tempo line.

The iPad, of course, plays the supplied 'library of songs' via WiFi but I never managed to get the audio tracks from a Yamaha CD to re-combine with their midi tracks in synchronous playback from my computer - despite renaming to match as advised here. One day I will try to do it via the iPad.

Hello Ian,

Always good to hear from you and another Enspire owner (seems there are few on the site so far).

Yes, the limitations are frustrating and yet the nice folks at Yamaha in California seem to want to help with most issues.

While the Yam monitor speakers are ok for what they are, I like to send the Omni out to my digital stereo amplifier which captures more of the bass and wider stereo playback. Sadly the Enspire dropped 1 each IN and OUTput ports but did add a digital/audio-coax output. It doesn’t seem to work on my nor several Enspire grands at the local piano store. I’m trying to find out if others are experiencing the same problem.

Thanks
Keith

Keith,

I've had the Enspire over 18 months and love it, but for some owners it does not have the flexibility that the DKC850 player offers on earlier models. I rarely use the multi track files which play additional accompaniment through the built-in speakers, so that inflexibility matters little to me.
What test have you in mind?
