Re: [disklavier] Virtual PRC Issues

2019-08-29 by Jason Bareham

To all,
This guidance was posted by another user years ago and still works on my Mark IV, as the web-based browser wouldn't work following Java security updates during the Java 7 series. You can point to a Windows 10 64 bit version of Java 8 as well which I use, so my current target is set at

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_221\bin\javaw.exe" -cp prc100.jar gui.prc100 -h=192.168.xxx.xxx -p=3191 webremote -w=31910"

I have a Windows shortcut called VirtualPRC, and my Icon "Start In" parameter is set to the drive/folder where my prc100.jar file is stored. The network address on my system for the Disklavier is a fixed private address (not DHCP), so replace xxx.xxx with whatever your Disklavier address is. You need a fixed address for this to work.

Regards
Jason

Original guidance is below:

I have an icon (shortcut) on my desktop which a target of:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -cp prc100.jar gui.prc100 -h=192.168.0.6 -p=3191 webremote -w=31910

and a start in (default directory) of C:\users\kevin\

and in C:\users\kevin is the actual "prc100.jar" (this is the actual prc100 program) that I had to manually download from the piano (I can probably explain how that was done, or just share this jar file since you all already have it anyway).

So, basically, this shortcut runs javaw.exe, and passes it a bunch of important command line parameters. As it turns out, you would all need the same command line parameters (I believe), aside from the one that looks like this:
-h=192.168.0.6
as that is the IP address of my piano on my network. You would need to replace it with the (hopefully fixed) IP address of your piano.

Assuming you are on Windows,

the "Target" of the shortcut should be javaw.exe with all the rest of the stuff you entered so, something like (I'm not near the computer that has this, otherwise, I'd just take a screen shot and upload it...)

Target: "c:\full\path\to\javaw.exe -cp prc100.jar gui.prc100 -h=192.168.0.6 -p=3191 webremote -w=31910"

Right under the target is a "Start in:"

if you put your prc100.jar file in "c:\some\other\dir" then your Start In should be set to

"c:\some\other\dir\"
