Because of the announced end of production of the DKC-850 controller I thought I would try to get one to upgrade my DC6A Mark III. THEN ---- I heard there might be a newer upgrade coming in 2020. Do we know anything about the newer controller that would make me want to wait for it?TIA, Glen Perry In a message dated 9/15/2019 2:39:41 PM Central Standard Time, disklavier@yahoogroups.com writes: Hello, Second month of Enspire ownership and discovery. Moving from the DKC850 on a DC5 Pro to the Enspire improved the user experience/interface in a couple of important additional areas: 1. Song/file limitations- -DKC850= 99 songs per album, 99 albums per USB drive. -Enspire= 999 songs per album, 499* albums in ONE Category. Through the Enspire iOS/PC/MAC/Android app you have categories which included: Playlists, My Songs, My Recordings, PC Sharing Folder, Built-in Songs. So each of these can contain 499 albums (think- Classical, Jazz, Sue Downs, Beatles, etc.), and each of those albums could contain around 1000 songs/files. *= This was upgraded from 99 albums in the last firmware update and will be reflected in the next "internal - controller owners manual" update when the firmware is next released (no estimate from Yamaha). 2. One interface with access to D-Radio/TV, 500 built-in songs, quick-add playlists, and all the music you can put on a USB drive (with the limitations listed above) is really nice and convenient. We currently have 9 various devices with the Enspire app installed and have run 6 or so at the same time with no issues so far (2 PCs, 3 iPads, 4 iPhones). What is not clear yet from Yamaha is the maximum readable size limit on the USB thumb drive. I'm using a 128gb flash drive with no issues, yet it is only 10% of capacity at this time because Content/Albums/Songs from Pianosoft+Audio CD and Smart Pianosoft files are NOT compatible at this time with the Enspire pianos. The good folks in Buena Park say they are working on this issue. Because the Enspire app is pretty compelling in terms of having all of your Pianosoft, midi, WAVE music in one place accessible through one application, I sure hope a solution is forthcoming quickly from the content team. IMPORTANT TIP: for current Enspire owners. The USB drive you use with your piano is where your playlists, recorded music, From PC, and all the songs/albums you place on it live, plus any diagnostic files and list databases. BACK-UP THIS USB to a PC/MAC/SERVER etc.regularly. If not you'll have to start all over and you will LOOSE your music if the USB fails. Only ONE USB drive can be accessed by the Enspire system at one time even though there are 3 USB ports on the piano. The Enspire has NO user-accessible internal storage. More discovery and piano enjoyment to come :-)
