Re: [disklavier] buzzing sound on certain keys

2019-10-18 by Vincent Lin

I’ve found that some notes can create a resonance on the Disklavier hardware either the flap on the console or on the hardware in the underside. Try closing the flap while playing or checking the hardware underneath while someone else is playing. Might require adding a rubber washer to the mounting brackets or adding some damping elements inside the hardware.

If that doesn’t work check the interior of the piano to make sure nothing is resting in the wires. Sometimes stuff falls back there such as a pencil or pen cap...

Hi peeps,

I acquired a 20 year old Disklavier recently. As I played the piano, I noticed that some of the notes created this buzzing sound as I pressed onto the key, while most keys sounded clean and clear like an acoustic piano, the buzzing notes really bother me. Can someone advise what's going on?

Thanks.
