Pauses in GLloydV1.zip / GLloydV2.zip files

2002-04-06 by davbrdavbr

First, a big kudo to Gary Lloyd for his consistently well-played and
interesting music!

Just wanted to let everyone know that, if they download the
GLloydV1.zip or GLloydV1.zip files in the "Popular Music" folder,
they might encounter problems (at least I did).

The music seems to load up and play just fine, but occasionally the
music will "pause" for a second or two, as if the pianist were
scratching his head trying to figure out the next note. However,
Gary played the pieces JUST FINE! There appears to have been some
kind of bug in the process where the original .mid files were
converted to E-SEQ format. As an example, listen to the spot at
about 16 seconds into "Berti" and you'll see what I mean. Kind of
subtle, but once you hear enough of these, it might drive you
crazy. :-)

The remedy is to just use the original .mid files as posted in
the "Jazz Piano" folder, "Gary_Lloyd_non-classical.zip" file.
Unfortunately, you can't get the nice file-naming and organization
that the poster of the GLloydV1.zip & GLloydV1.zip files provided.
Also, you'll need a piano capable of playing .mid files (which
excludes some older models, from what I understand). But so far the
pieces appear to play accurately, which I'd prefer.

By the way, if no one else can hear these flaws, I'd be interested
to hear about that. That might indicate a flaw in my piano instead!

Thanks,
Dave
