Re: [disklavier] MX100B maintenance mode and hidden menus

2002-05-05 by Robert Welcyng

I second Carol's wise advice. Perhaps you know the old proverb, "Fools
go where angels fear to tread." Unless you know what you are doing, you
are well-advised to stay out of the Test and Maintenance modes. They
are there for qualified Yamaha-trained technicians. However, I believe
that anyone who owns a Disklavier, has every right to risk screwing it
up and to pay someone to undo his folly.

That said, and at your own risk, you enter the Test Mode with the
"Power" switch off. You then hold down the "L" and "R" buttons while
depressing the "Power" switch to "ON". The LCD will indicate that you
have reached the "Test Mode" and will indicate that the "+" and "-"
buttons will scroll through the menu of available tests. The ">> (Song
Select)" button will scroll through sub-menus and "Play/Pause will
activate a test. Shut the "Power" switch off to leave the Test Mode.

You enter the Maintenance Mode with the "Power" switch off. You then
hold down the "<<" and ">>" (Song Select) buttons while depressing the
"Power" switch to "ON". The LCD will indicate that you have reached the
"Maintenance Mode". Press "R" or "L" to scroll through the menu of
available procedures. The "Play/Pause" button will activate a
procedure. Shut the "Power" switch off to leave the Maintenance Mode.

I've said too much. Don't ask me for further details.

BTW, your Disklavier surely must have a Maintenance Mode--otherwise, I
don't know how anyone could do the calibrations for keyboard and pedal
playback.
