Good afternoon, everyone. Regarding the recent discussions on both of these Disklavier user group lists, it has been pointed out to me that I should mention that the MIDI files posted for the Piano-e-Competition are in Standard MIDI File Type 0 format. They should be playable on a Mark II (if it has the ROM to support SMF and if the file is on a double-density disk with no other files), Mark IIXG, Mark III, or Pro. Earlier Disklaviers designs--such as the MX100A or B, Wagon grand, and MX 80 series, will require a DSR1 or a computer with MIDI player program connected to the instrument. Alternatively, owners of these earlier instruments can use a program that converts SMF to E-SEQ, such as the one made by Gary Geibler or the one available from the Disklavier group on Yahoo. (I'll leave it to others to fill in details on that.) Regards, PianoBench
