RTFM certainly works when all else fails! Did others know that their DKVs came with a way to turn down the volume already built into the control box? It is called Track Edit. It works on the MarkII and the MarkIIXG Disklaviers. It probably works on the MarkIII but check your manual. I doubt if it works on the MX80 or MX100A/B models. It won't work with the original copies of the PianoSoft disks so you must copy them and convert the ESEQ files to MIDI files. I think anytime you convert ESEQ to Midi in the DKV, they come up MIDI format 0 files, because only MIDI o is used to REcord SMF files on your Disklavier. Use the DKutil, DKVcopy and the Windows program ESEQtoMIDI. Put the files you want to edit (turn the volume down) on a floppy disk and insert the disk into the control box. Then push RECORD. Use the song select buttons to select the song you want to edit. Push the -> button to see what tracks have data on them. Choose the track you want to edit. In the case of the piano, choose track 1 by turning the volume control knob or pressing <yes>. Then use the -> to select volume. You will see the default is 100. Turn it down to 60 (or whatever, but not lower than 30)by turning the volume control knob or pressing yes/no buttons. Press Stop. Press enter to save. The old information is overwritten on your disk and replaced with the new setting. The nice thing about feature is that it lets you make a determination of what volume sounds best on YOUR piano. It is a good way to edit just the piano tracks on your Ensemble disks without having to use a MIDI sequencer program. Wish I would have read the book sooner!
