You might already be aware but there is a software sold by Gielber industry that do a lot for Disklavier, and formatting is part of it. I have it and it is very usefull, I make all my disk with it and they all have the proper Yamaha Disklavier protocol. Good luck!

That's a great idea for those who have a recording Disklavier. That
didn't occur to me because I have a playback-only model that (I
think) cannot format diskettes. If anyone knows different, I would
be interested.

I have the impression that most people buy the recording feature, so
formatting 720k diskettes in the piano is good advice for the great
majority of Disklavier owners.
