RE: [disklavier] Buying discs in U.K!

2003-01-17 by Enquiries

Hello Everyone

As a dealer and fellow enthusiast I share Stephens' frustration at not
being able to obtain these disks.
There are many complex copyright issues regarding the sale of printed
music and mechanically reproduced music (i.e. disks) that affect the UK
rather than the USA. All the commercial software currently available in
the UK is sourced from Yamaha USA, imported by Yamaha-Kemble UK and
distributed to the dealers in this country.
As the US Yamaha software catalogue has increased in size, the UK
version has remained static. I have no idea if this is a copyright
issue, or just down to a resource problem for Yamaha-Kemble, but
inevitably our customers have voiced their frustration at this problem.
I will continue lobbying Yamaha-Kemble for a resolution to this dilemma,
but for the time being UK customers will have to obtain new titles (i.e.
titles issued after 2000) from Yamaha.com
Any news on this subject and I will post on this site.

Nigel Hill - Chappell of Bond Street, London, UK.

Hi there one and all!hope you all had a Good Christmas and a happy
and peaceful New Year.
The reason I am writing this e-mail is that I'm really fed up with
trying to buy discs in this Country(U.K) I used to buy my disc from
Chappells of Bond Street and there I could hear what the disc sounded
like, before I bought them, and I'm sure that we all have bought
discs that very "lousy" to say the least!I wanted to order two discs,
recordings (sondheim collection /its easy being greene) and I was
told buy Chappells that they could not order them! and that I would
have to order them on the yamahasoft website.sure they have offers on
but I still have to pay shipping charges and have the pleasure of
paying around £6.60 per disc on top for customs! its really does make
my blood boil! If there is any more people who live in the U.K or
have the same problem please lets all hound the website and MOAN!!!
then we could have some of these recordings over here!!
That ends my moaning for today!if there is any one in this site from
U.K! Please drop us a line!
Happy Playing Stephen
