This thread was started by another purchaser who was surprised to discover that a Disklavier cannot read MIDI files from CD and that MIDI files can be written only to diskette. I'll observe that: 1) Yamaha makes the finest reproducing pianos in the world, with its Disklavier and Disklavier Pro lines. 2) Yamaha makes the finest CD writers in the world, such as http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/products/cdrw/crwf1.asp Yamaha clearly has excellent engineers and programmers who understand these hardware technologies well, along with the software drivers needed for each. It would seem that the parts cost of their CD writers, within the same company, would be low. Gosh, it seems reasonable to ask that these could come together: Disklaviers should have CD-RW drives that can read and write MIDI files. What's the right way to encourage the development team, since the limitation seems to be neither technology nor cost? Thanks - John Q.
