The MX80 only plays ESEQ files, not MIDI files through the floppy disk drive. Any MIDI file you want to play must first be converted to ESEQ using the dkvutil software programs located in the Files section of this website. You must also use only the older 720k DD floppy disks - not the HD 1.44 disks that are common. The MX80 does not have a tone generator, so you would have to add one to hear Ensemble sounds. If the MIDI file you downloaded did not have piano parts, you would hear nothing on your piano. However, a program like gnmidi, has a feature "arrange program for PianoDisc" that converts a MIDI file to play the tracks on the piano in a MIDI 0 file. Then convert this MIDI 0 file to an ESEQ file and it should play on your piano just fine. Granted, there are a few extra steps to this process, but the software is cheap or free on this website. BTW, your MX80 would play a MIDI 0 file from a computer connected to it; just not through the floppy drive. You would need a Jukebox or MIDI Player program and a MIDI interface and MIDI cable.
