Good evening, everyone. Regarding copying and converting protected Disklavier disks: In a message dated 7/7/03 9:46:26 PM, Rich writes in response to Holly: << > having found little additional information in the archives, is it still the > case that a Mac person is out of luck, in trying to do all of this? Although I haven't used it with this specific software, I've had no problem running any windows applications with it. It runs about $200, kind of pricey, but who wants a cheap windows laptop lying about the house anyway. >> I believe I am correct in saying that while certain Windows or DOS programs may run in emulation on the Mac, they will not be able to access the floppy drive hardware directly. For this reason, they will not be able to take a Yamaha-published Disklavier disk or song files downloaded from YamahaMusicSoft.com to a floppy and read them. The reason is that these disks are missing a boot sector. Any program that is successful in reading these disks accesses the PC floppy drive hardware directly--and this is not possible in emulation on the Mac. Regards, PianoBench
