Jeff, I have both and neither pair is sound good. Yamaha uses servo woofer and seem to be more advanced, but sounds just as atrificial (or bad, depending of your point of view). IMHO, one need to spend (more) money and buy separate amp and speakers. There're number of excellent small amplifiers and speakers on the market, latest could be had for as little as $800.
