Re: [disklavier] DSR1 Cabling

Ralph -

Not long after we bought our Disklavier in 1993(Studio Upright), I was bothered by this same issue. Essentially, my solution was to turn the MIDI In & Out receptacles around to "point" toward the piano. To do this, I had to drill a total of six holes in the back of metal box that contains the power switch and midi connectors- two larger holes for the MIDI ports and 4 small mounting holessecuring theport connectors. I then put rubber plugs in the two larger holes out front.

You need some mechanical and perhaps electrical/electronic abilities, but it's not too difficult. As I recall, I didn't have tomake any changesto the AC poweror MIDI connections.

REMEMBER TO UNPLUG THE AC POWER to the DKV before beginning this modification.

There may be a better way, but I've found this has worked well for 10 years!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to emailus. Also, if anyone would like pictures of this modification, I'd be glad to send them to you.

GOOD LUCK!

Keenan,Julie, Angela & MariahGarrett

P.S. Todd,THANKS for getting and keeping this group going!

What is the recommended way to hide the MIDI cables on an MX100 with a DSR1 Tone Generator. Cables from the DSR1 are plugged into the front of the control box below the keyboard on the right hand side.
