Yamaha Disklaviers are only installed in new pianos at Yamaha factories. This is why they work without incident most of the time! Seriously though, the outstanding feature of the Disklavier is that it can both Record and playback fine nuances of piano playing. You can have installed into any piano a PianoDisc or QRS Pianomation system that will play back MIDI files. In fact, the QRS Chili system will have both the CD and floppy disk drives, and will allow you to play MIDI files you have burned to a CD yourself! The big drawback of these systems is that they have yet to produce a decent Record system. Although they each have a rocker arm or mylar tab system that will record the keys, neither has a good pedal record or playback. However, if all you want to do is play MIDI files, or their CDs, I think they are great retro fits.
