This is the best upload contribution since the dkvutil suite! It's a major improvement over dkvcopy that is elegant in its simplicity. You can back up your entire Pianosoft collection to the hard drive in a fraction of the time it used to take. I would then recommend burning the collection to a CD for a permanent backup. Now your heart won't skip a beat the next time you discover the kids left refrigerator magnets on top of the floppy storage box, or they misplace your favorite disk. Bravo and thanks again. Here's a timely reminder to newer members who haven't heard this already. Never upload Yamaha Pianosoft, or other copyrighted performances to the "Files" section of the group site. This is a fantastic tool for backups and for producing extra long play or composite mix disks. It's also great for listening to your favorite disks from your desktop at the office or your laptop on a plane. It is not to be used as a burglar's tool! -----Original Message----- From: midi_magic2000 [mailto:magic_midi@...] Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2003 12:25 PM To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com Subject: [disklavier] RootARipper & RipARoot Hi All They are HERE, at last. Well I've had them for a while now but now we can pass them on. A very good friend of mine has just finished writing two small utilities for "floppy disk recovery" that may be of interest to the group. Both of these are Freeware. Please send me your feedback as it is nice to know how well they perform. Basically they will read a floppy that has a bad or missing boot sector, taking the files from the root directory and saving them to your HDD. One is for NT, 2000 and XP and the other is for DOS. Sorry, but we do not have it working for Win 95, 98 nor ME yet. DKVCOPY and Giebler will work but you must use 720K disks. They will NOT read or work with 1.44M disks. These programs will work with 720K and 1.44M disks. RootARipper works for NT, 2000 and XP RipARoot Works for DOS NO MORE HAVING TO USE 720K Disks. I have posted them to the files section.
