Just wanted to get the group's thoughts on the DGC1A model that was recently introduced to be a lower price point 5' 3" grand. I have always wanted a Conservatory Series DC1A, as I know the Conservatory pianos have a long tradition of excellence, but it is still out of my price range as a new purchase. From what I'm told, the DGC1A differs from the DC1A as follows: * no sostenuto pedal * different case and cabinet features * looser grain spruce used for soundboard * different ribbing design under soundboard which results in shorter "natural" sustain If I'm missing any differences, please let me know, because I'll most likely be buying one this week or next. If anyone has any comments about the differences, or think it's crazy of me to settle for the DGC1A, please let me know. If I really stretched the finances, I could perhaps go for the DC1A, but I'm not sure the differences stated really are worth $4,000 to me! Thanks in advance for your advice and comments which I value very much. P.S. Sorry for the pricing discussion fiasco I started. I was not aware of that discussion rule until the Yamaha rep. informed me. John W. Gewartowski Sr. Product Support Engineer, Product Technical Services Tyco Healthcare Retail Group 610-878-3423
