Re: [disklavier] Help Disklavier quality MIDI performances -where are they?

2003-12-12 by Jerry Dutcher

If classical music is your bent, two other excellent download sites discussed here a few weeks ago are those of Katsuhiro Oguri and Richard Carlson. Oguri has a very wide range of solo piano performances, with which I've almost filled three 1.4 Mb floppies. Carlson has a smaller but growing selection, also very good. Both sites are painful to download from (one song at a time, no zipped files) but are well worth the effort. The links are:
Carlson: http://www.geocities.com/~rwcpno/rwc2.html
Oguri: http://www.bb.wakwak.com/~oguri/indexe.html
Also here's a link to a page with a long list of other links: http://www.pianoguru.com/midi_&_disklavier.htm

If your interest is in classical music, a really top notch site is the Classical Music Archives. You have to join for a small fee, but their archive covers all composers and top quality midi files with hundreds of selections available for download.

Hi all. I have an MX100A disklavier. My local Yamaha retailer is
getting out of stocking PianoSoft titles, leaving me nowhere to buy
(hopefully) quality performances locally, and I don't necessarily
want to buy from Yamaha's web site.

I have done the usual of downloading MIDI files and converting them
to ESEQ as my machine needs to play, but all to often the
performances are (not to put too fine a word on it) CR*P!

My question is this - can you point me to web sites where good
quality MIDI files are available - most of the stuff I have
downloaded recently is poorly sequenced and badly played, and it's a
waste of such a fime instrument just to play rubbish.

My tastes are Beethoven (Appassionata is a favourite), Mozart, etc,
plus some jazz and bits of modern music. Any ideas?

Season's Greetings
