Hello, I'm pretty new to the Disklavier. I just started to download
midi files and convert them to e-seq format.
All the midi files from the group download work fine,
but when I download a piano midi file from a different site it
only plays using the synthesizer. I tried using pro-tools to
change the type of piano but that didn't help. What should I do?
If your Disklavier is a Mark IIXG or later, you do not need to convert the files to E-SEQ, just play them as SMF. If the piano does not play the correct tracks, go to the screen for Import File and set L and R both equal to PRG.
To do this:
--Press Function
--Move the cursor to MIDI Setup and press Enter
--With the cursor on PianoPart, press Enter again
--Move the cursor to the next page where you can set L and R equal to PRG
This Disklavier defines files that were not authored on a Disklavier as Import Files. When you make these settings, the Disklavier will look for the 2 lowest numbered tracks in the MIDI file which contain a piano group voice and will assign them to the the piano. You can then use the Disklavier's L and R Part Cancel buttons to cancel their playback if desired. This technique achieves the desired results about 95% of the time.
