From what you've described, I'm pretty sure you should be using the 
flash ROM update for:
Disklavier, MX1Z, plus GranTouch DGT2IIXG and DGT7 equipped with 
Smartkey function V3.08 (last updated 9/12/03)

Sounds like you have a GranTouch DGT2IIXG model and this flash ROM 
update appears to be the logical update from your current version 
v3.04.


The other flash ROM update is for:
Mark IIXG Disklavier Pianos, including DGT2IIXG & DGT7 V1.44 (last 
updated 07/06/99)

You'll find the correct flash ROM update at the very bottom of the 
Disklavier System Software update page. I find the titles a bit hard 
to interpret, especially given that DGTIIXG is indicated in two 
places/titles.


I too have a DKC500RW control unit with my MX1Z and recently updated 
my ROM from v3.06 to v3.08.

If you're a member of Yamaha's "DUG" email forum, you could post 
your question there if you want to absolutely sure about everything 
before proceding.  Alternately, you could send and email to Bill 
Brandom  (bbrandom@...)who's in charge of posting flash ROM 
updates on the Yamaha web site.
