After reading this, it occured to me that I implied that Sibelius uses Smartscore. This is not true. Their product is called Photoscore, and Photoscore Lite is the product I am using. I am disappointed in it, but I will reserve judgement for the full version. SIBELIUS IS A GREAT SOFTWARE however. I was able to copy an aria with all the expressions markings (dynamic - pp and ff, and legato and tempo etc..) in a matter of three to four hours. In addition, it reads beautifully into a midi file and all the dynamics and nuances are there. It even allows you to create your own markings and has a very simple tool to translate it into midi language. I find the sequencers so difficult, this software does it from a non-electrician musician's point of view. If there is a sforzando you enter Sff and that is all, the program translates this into midi. Great program.
