Good morning, everyone.

You do need to be concerned. I suggest that you call Yamaha Piano Service: (800) 854-1569 between 8:30-5:00 PST. Push 2 at the first menu choice and 2 at the second menu choice.

Yamaha may be able to sell you an extension cable. I THINK that an extension cable is available up to a certain length. Beyond that, a power booster is necessary. I have used a custom version of such a power booster provided by Yamaha during my work with the International Piano-e-Competition. I don't know, however, whether Yamaha is prepared to sell such a device or provide specs for one.

I have also used a heavy duty 25-foot VGA extension cable. It transfered the data to the piano without any problems. However, it did not transfer the tone generator data.

2) Any experience with plugging
DCD1 output into whole house audio system? Would like audio in home
amplifier vs. powered speakers that I am currently using.

I have not done that, but I have used a home theatre amplifier. It seems to me that the bigger issue is how you are going to put the sound of the piano itself into the whole house audio system.
