Smartscore

2000-04-14 by Greg Sparacino

I agree.....A big thanks to Todd. I also think he is correct on
copyright issues.

Buffy....I like smartscore a great deal. However I have not used any
other music software so I can't compare it to anything else. It
sounds like your software will do more. Or at least different things.

The Smartscore folks say they designed this program (as an example)
for people who had a relative pass away and leave a large amount of
sheet music and no one who can play it. With Smartscore they can
hear the songs that grandma used to play.

The thing I like about it is the ability to scan it , ocr it. and it
plays. To me that is pretty amazing. It takes some massaging as no
ocr program is perfect. But with a good scan it does 90%+. The
resulting midi file sounds as good (& sometimes better) than a player
piano roll. (88 note).

I should add that there is a learning curve, at least for me as my
music theory was rusty. So at this point I have not done anything
with expression. No excuse. Just was glad to get up to speed with
the basics and got lazy. Now that you have reminded me I will soon
go back over the pieces I have done and add expression.

I will upload the Hawaiian tunes in about a week or less and would
appreciate any feedback.

Any other questions about Smartscore (or the MX88 or DSR1)......I
will be happy to respond.
