Keith: Since your concern is primarily with the DKV portion, you should be able, with the help of the seller, to do a basic record and playback test: Put a DKV-formatted double density disk in the drive, press "RECORD", then "PLAY/PAUSE". Play, chromatically, keys 1 through 88 and depress the right and left pedals several times. Press "STOP". After the disk has been written, press "PLAY/PAUSE" and evaluate the reproduction. Bear in mind that the instrument may not record/reproduce well if the DKV out of calibration. A vaild calibration cannot be performed until the instrument is in good regulation and the mechnical adjustments on the pedals are correctly set. If you do buy the instrument and plan to maintain it yourself, you will probably be able to squeak by all right without the owners manual. However, you will need the service manuals. One such source is Yamaha's "Hybrid Piano Service CD". The distribution of this CD-ROM is probably restricted by Yamaha, but authorized dealers do have them.
