Unavailable PianoSoft Catalogs

2004-05-06 by Robert LeBlanc

Robert,

I have visited colleagues overseas who own Disklaviers and who have
PianoSoft libraries comprising many titles not available in North America.
Although I know very little of the background detail, it appears that
separate catalogs were produced for the UK, Japan and North American. I'm
told that some early PianoSoft disks produced abroad were not overly good,
so perhaps that is why they were never offered here. In fact, I've heard
some of these disks and don't miss not having them in my collection.
However, there were also a lot a great PianoSoft disks that were produced
abroad and, for some strange reason they are not available here. If they
were, I'd buy them immediately.

There's a music store in Alsace, France called "musique paul galland" that
sells many PianoSoft disks from the Yamaha France catalogue, including the
disk "Like Someone In Love" by Tommy Flanagan. I'm not sure if the store
will ship to the USA but you can always inquire.
The main URL for the store is: http://perso.club-internet.fr/gallandm
The specific store URL for the PianoSoft disks is:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/gallandm/pianosoft.htm

Although I've said this before, I think Yamaha Corporation of America is
missing a tremendous marketing opportunity by not offering these disks in
the USA. Maybe the issue relates to licensing or royalties, Then again,
maybe it's just corporate politics at work.

Regards,

Robert

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
